Community Stadium

I am surprised that no one seems to have considered Herringthorpe Stadium as our new home. The Harriers and ourselves could truly benefit sharing the stadium providing money could be found to upgrade it.We could apply for training pitches, one floodlit,at that end of the fields. The five aside all weather football pitches were floodlit for many a year so a precedent was set,the protesters wouldnt have a leg to stand on.Its just the financial side of things could prove a problem, but surely if we shared with the Harriers then interest would come from that quarter.A move to DVS could be disastrous, every Roth fan I have spoke to is opposed to us going there and quite a number say they will not go there.

100% agree Keith. Unless we haven't heard that it isn't an option it has to be the best idea. I am one of the fans who will not pay good money and go to Don Valley.  :-*

Herringthorpe Stadium as a venue was discussed by this forum about a year ago.  I don't think it would work unless we took it over completely.  To play on there would mean massive changes. We would have to provide seating / standing for a minimum of  10,000 people. Would the showers / baths / toilets meet RFU criteria. There would still be a running track around the pitch. We would not be able to have any spectators behind one set of posts, as the High Jump, Shot Putt and Hammer area's are there. I wish we could move there but i don't see it happening. I don't like Don Valley, but cannot except people saying that they will not go there. I'd go to watch wherever Rotherham play. A true supporter goes to watch what's happening on the field of play, not what surrounds it.

I would go to DVS if there was no alternative but at the end of the day its all about watching your team on your own turf and in an environment where there is an atmosphere and you dont require field glasses.Anyway its all conjecture no doubt we will be playing at the Lane next season.

If we were not true supporters we would not travel to Penzance and many other matches, The word watching is also debatable as you can't see anything at Don Valley.  :-*

"A true supporter goes to watch what's happening on the field of play, not what surrounds it. "

That is exactly the problem with DVS. As a "supporter"/ spectator  you are too far away to see what is happening on the pitch.
